Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY;[1] born March 17 1998), known professionally as Grimes is a Canadian performer, singer music producer, and songwriter. [2][3] The range of her music from the beginning has been called "lo fi R&B" and "futuristic dance-pop". The artist has included elements of hip-hop electronic music, as well as rock. The songs she sings often speak to the themes of science fiction and feminists. Grimes has released five studio albums. Grimes was born in Vancouver before moving to Montreal at the age of 2000. Grimes started releasing her songs as a solo artist during the 2000s. The albums released were by Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes as well as Halfaxa during 2010. Following her signing with 4AD the band gained fame through Visions which was her third studio album. Visions includes the singles "Genesis" as well as "Oblivion" which won her the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. [5] Following this, her fourth studio album, Art Angels, was released in 2015 , and was met with critical praise as several publications named it the best album of 2015. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. Grimes is also a judge in Alter Ego, a music contest. She participated in the role-playing game that of Cyberpunk 2077 2020 role-playing game.
